“His last two runs have both been very good. We came here very hopeful and he’s done the job for us.
“We knew he’d be back and he sort of missed the start a little bit but he didn’t panic, Lachie knew what he had under him and he was just too good for them.
“Might step him up a little bit in distance. He’ll eat it up, I think. He’s a horse with untold potential as a young horse. He’s done two tendons, he’s back from that and it’s great for these owners.
“We always have had an opinion of him but we just had to get him back. Looks like we’ve got him back so hopefully he can keep it going.”
Winning Jockey: Lachie King
“The owners have been very patient with this bloke. He had a bit of ability prior to injuring himself. It takes a lot for owners to stand by but I I think Malua has done a fantastic job nursing him back to his top ability and I don’t think he’s lost that. He’s building and building and I think he’ll reach that again.
“He’s a very big horse. Quite wide and I find that he always jumps a tad awkwardly so I want to ride him the same as I rode him first-up, let him be happy and the way the race panned out I was able to let him settle in the first half and on the turn I was lucky enough to get that nice slide, slipstream on the outside. I knew the ability was there, the turn-of-foot was there so I had to ride him confidently.”
