“I thought she was under pressure a fair way out but to her credit she stuck to her guns and really fought hard to the line which was great.”
Summoned Stakes next: “We always wanted to get her out to a trip. The whole family seemed to get out over a bit of ground. We always have wanted to and I’ve had it in the back of my mind that we would run in that race.”
His regard for her of his runners: “She’s got to be on top, really. I haven’t had a horse run around in black type before - place or win one.”
Winning Jockey: Damien Thornton
“I think the track is that waterlogged that it won’t matter where you are (in the run). The horse that wins is the one that gets through the conditions.
“She was terrific. She’s tough and Peter said this was the best he’s had her, he thought. I said I’ve been nagging him for a while to get her to 1400 and he finally listened.
“It’s nice to get a win with her now.
“I thought I was going to run last at the 500 (metre mark). I thought I was gone and going nowhere - up and down in the one spot.
“But to her credit she was tough and kept coming. They got going early and stopped late which allowed me to pick them up. She was really good.
Summoned Stakes: “I think so. We mentioned that after the last run at Flemington. It’s not beyond doubt and stepping out to a mile, whether he wanted to try that this prep, I wouldn’t say no.”
