“It was a really good performance. She’s had a really good experience.

“I spoke to Brett pre-race, we didn’t want her to have a real gutbuster. We just wanted her to find her feet (and) hit the line.

“She’s got a pedigree that suggests that she gets out in trip a little bit. She probably raced like that today. She might have had enough there on the line. She’ll certainly improve for the whole experience.”

Thousand Guineas: “We didn’t really have any races planned after today but we’ll start to map a path towards the Thousand Guineas. That will be her ultimate goal. The Atlantic Jewel in a couple of weeks is an option.

“She’s got to keep improving. These fillies have to keep improving. The fillies she’s going to come up against are going to get better and better. She’s made a really good start and she’s a very promising horse.”

What sort of feel did she give you: “I only had one sit on her before in a trial and I left from that with a bit of a spring in my step from that day. She’s come here, she’s raw, she’s inexperienced, but she’s professional with a great action. She’s big, she’s got a great temperament. She ticks a lot of boxes.”

Had enough late: “In all fairness to her I had to make a bit of a sustained run on her, so it is fair enough that she was a bit vulnerable in the last 100 (metres). The second horse is no duffer and had a really close, soft time and a kick late. I held it all the way to the line and it gave me a rally. She definitely had more left. I asked her for an effort, she gave it to me and I looked after her late.”

Conditions - surface and wind: “The wind is going to be a factor. The surface is nice at the moment. It’s a (Good) 4 and I don’t think it’s any better than that. I’m not sure if it will get an upgrade or not.”
