Winning Trainer: Lindsey Smith (rep by Shane Jackson)
“He improves a bit every time. He only just does - he did plenty today - but he does enough to win by a length every day and he keeps improving. Declan gave him a lovely ride and you love having him in the stable.
“I think the (picket) fence is getting plenty long now. Lindsey will look after this horse and he might have a little rest. That’s his jurisdiction. He makes the plans and he places this horse perfectly.
“He scratched him from Sandown on a heavy track that day to protect his form which he has done. The plan worked out to a tee. We’ll just keep ticking away. It’s great.”
Winning Jockey: Declan Bates
“You’d have to say that he’s probably lifted his game again. Every time we raise the bar he makes the jump to that next level and I wouldn’t mind a few more like him.
“This is probably the first day where I was a bit concerned in the run how things were going. He didn’t come out flying so I gave him a little squeeze to get going, to be in a forward spot. I left my options open so that if some of them wanted to go a good gallop I could take a sit but because I gave him that bit of a squeeze he was just running in my hands the whole way today and I had one inside of me.
“I was just a bit concerned that he wasn’t quite relaxed like he normally can sure enough but when he came under pressure and I asked, he found plenty. He’s obviously a good horse.
“It is hard to say but he hasn’t beaten anything quality yet but he just keeps winning. Today is the first day where I felt that he actually might be even better than I thought. He absorbed pressure, ran a bit keen in my hands, and still kicked. A good performance.”
