Winning Trainer: John Sadler (rep by Mick Nolan)
“You get a thrill out of some horses winning but then you get a lot of satisfaction out of horses like this.
“This horse has had a lot of issues even before I joined John Sadler with his feet. They put pads on and the horses has never ever felt better. It’s just satisfying to see a horse like that come back and win.
“I’m not sure about confidence (today) to declare him but they were confident he’d run well and hoping that he would. He did beat Nature Strip twice.
“I’ve nearly got a tear in the eye, I’m that happy for this horse winning. It’s just nice to see old horses that have had issues come back and win.”
Winning Jockey: Michael Dee
“It was certainly a good strong effort. I don’t think he was ever going to get beaten today the way we straightened up and he made ebay work of it.
“I thought mauve I hit the front too soon but I had that much horse underneath me and I had to go when I did. He would’ve quickened again if he was challenged.
“I think I’ve ridden him once before but he’s been working extremely well at Caulfield and hopefully he can stay in form this time around.”
** VICTORIA HANDICAP NEXT SATURDAY **
Mat Ellerton on Age Of Chivalry: “He was a touch disappointing last time. He felt the hard ground at The Valley.
Has he delivered enough on the track so far per ability: “I could argue that he should have won a Cantala but he just got chasing on hot speed too quick and got nailed late.
“A race like the Victoria Handicap is pretty suitable for him.”
