First winner for owner Gary Lechte: “First horse we’ve had for Gary and his brother John as well.”

On the run: “It’s just been building with this guy he’s taken a while to get fit but we ran him the other night with the big weight and with the back-up he ran superb.

“His wet track form is only average but he certainly had no problem with it today. I said to Damian to be positive, he’s fit now, and got the inside draw so put yourself up there. He ended up leading it and the result was never in doubt.”

On the All-Star Mile: “It was great to be involved. For a race that has only been going for three years it had a great atmosphere and I think Moonee Valley never disappoints. It was a really thrilling race and we’re really pleased with our horse.

“It’s great to have people back at the races, even though we didn’t win we were really pleased ot be here.”

On Russian Camelot: “Damien said that he could tell that Hugh’s was the only horse that was travelling and he was bolting on the corner. He tried to hold him in there for as long as he could but unfortunately the gap appeared just in front of him and he got through and was too strong.”

Towards Sydney: “I think we’ll head to Sydney now and see how he goes.”

Winning Jockey: Damian Lane

“Quick backup, obviously the wet track was an unknown. Obviously riding him that bit closer was an unknown as well but it worked out well.

“It’s been a testing day especially for myself. That's how it is sometimes and I’m glad to come out a winner.”

More on Probabeel: “She was hopeless in the ground, unfortunately. Although she’s raced on soft and heavy before it was obviously a concern leading into the race and I knew a long way out I was no hope and she’d struggle. It was very deflating. On top of the ground she’s so good but unfortunately today wasn’t our day.”
