“That seems to be that horse’s best way of racing. Second run back and he gave us a sight the other day at Bendigo. He kicked clear and hit the wall the last bit. He obviously took good improvement from that.
“It was a really good tough win and he’s only going to get better.
“We haven’t had to do a lot with him between Bendigo and today. He was a little bit on the fresh side and that seems to be his best way of racing. He likes to roll them along.
“It was a really good ride, actually. ‘Froggy’ stuck to the inside fence and he cut the corner and saved a couple of lengths. Really good.”
Winning Jockey: Craig Newitt
“It was a good solid effort. He bounced well and got up the hill the first time I was taking my time. Quite a few of them were digging up inside me and I knew I had the horse to just push the button and extend him up the hill.
“He was able to bowl along at a nice tempo and travel really well. 600 (metres) from home I thought I’d stay hard on the rail because they’d been fanning all day, I thought that might have been my chance to pinch a couple of lengths on them and then get him out to the middle of the track. But he sprinted really well and he sustained his gallop right through the line.”
At the 200: “I was pretty confident. He was still full of running. The closer he got to the line, he started to knock up so he’ll improve again. I’d say he’ll go to 2000 metres now. He should be hard to beat again.”
