Wasn’t aware of the 955 Challenge $55,000 bonus at season end: “I’m not worried about the time too much at the moment. I’ll have to fight over it with mum.

“Hopefully there’s a few wet nights to the end of the season.”

On the horse: “I’ve always been happy with him this preparation and it was a matter of going high or having just one trial into this. He’s prepped up really well so we thought we’d give it it a go.

“I did think they might be a little sharp for him but his work has been really good. He wasn’t going easy in the run but he picked up well.”

Jockey: “He’s got a lot of confidence in this horse and that takes them a long way.”

$600 purchase: “We knew he was coming up for sale and that he needed a throat operation. We were happy to do that because we train at the beach. We got him very cheap.

“I would have gone a lot higher than $600, that’s for sure.”

Good ride: “It all worked out perfectly really. He jumped good and he's a horse that can sprint off a really good pace. The good pace helped him and he travelled into it. He dropped the bit early but i knew what i had underneath and he hit the line really strong”
