“I had two in the race and I thought Guizot was the better chance. Patch Adams’ work was really good. He’s come back sound and happy. I knew I was confident he was going to have a good preparation. I probably wasn’t expecting that today.
“I was watching the both of them and at about the 300 metre mark I thought he (Patch Adams) was going better than the other horse so I thought he was going to be in the finish. It probably wasn’t until the 100 metre mark that I was getting excited and I thought the race was his.
Formerly with Terry & Karina O’Sullivan: “I got him around Easter last year. I think that’s his third win for us and he’s been a pleasure to have around the stable. He’s surprisingly sound for an old horse but he loves racing and he loves his work. He’s obviously happy with the stable life so while he is going well his career is going to keep going.
Satisfaction with the carnival back to normal: “Last year was a year to forget and it is fantastic to be back racing the way it should be and couldn’t be happier to get a win.”
On Guizot: “I think the wet was ok but I think he likes it better off a slower tempo. They ran along pretty strongly in that race and I was rapt in the way he finished.“
Winning Jockey: Will Price
“He can pull out one on his day. From the 600 (metre mark) when the pressure came on, he just travelled the whole way through and a couple outside of me were coming under pressure and I was able to ease my way out. He was travelling really well around the corner and I let him go and he found nicely.”
