On the win: “He’s such a big horse he needs clear galloping room. We were worried about the speed map, he had to go back from that draw, we knew it would be slowly run.

“But it worked out perfectly being able to do no work to be there on the corner and he was in for the fight, it got close there but he was too good.”

On spring plans: “Will have to work it out with the boss. He’s nommed for the (Caulfield) Guineas, we’ll just have to see what happens.

“He’s a really genuine horse, he’s going to keep getting better and better. He’s such a tall horse, he’s all legs so I think with each prep he’ll come back bigger and stronger.

“He’s fair dinkum Saturday class, hopefully he makes the next step but time will tell. ”

How it played out: “I didn’t think there would be much speed on paper but there ended up being a nice genuine tempo for us. He’s a beautiful animal, very kind, very honest. He’s still not the finished product and wanted to lay-in and do a bit wrong, but once I pulled the whip through he really hit the line well. He’s a nice horse going forward.”
