“We went through our (his) three-year-old year without a win. He won as a two-year-old a couple of times. He didn’t run badly but he got a little bit of confidence last time (when) winning and today going on with it today is great.
“I said to a couple of lads that we were here last year running in another race and he’s improved a bit.
Heavy track: “I was never sure but a couple of lads said he’d be right and I thought they’ve got the confidence. I was going halfway but someone told me that the mother had two runs in it for a win and a second so that was a little help. I was hopeful.
“Dad was lucky enough to win a Caulfield Cup and he ran second in another one. It’ll be the last day for Caulfield trainers here (on Caulfield Cup Day), they won’t be here to train these winners and they’ll be doing it from somewhere else.”
Winning Jockey: Jarrod Fry
“Worked out really well. We drew the outside gate but I was able to lob onto the back of a prominent chance, Eagles Crag, and it carted us where we needed to go.
“When he (Eagles Crag) was in trouble coming to the corner I got off it’s back and it was a good win.
“He had good soft track form. Hadn’t been on the heavy before but got the job done.”
The track: “It walked soft all over and it will just be a matter of how it will open up. It probably will chop up a little bit but the way the wear and tear goes is how it will pan out.”
