Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace (represented by Jack Turnbull)

Better conditions today: “It was far too soft at Warrnambool and it took him a while to get over that run. Thankfully the connections have been patient and this race looked ideal for him.”

On the run: “It worked out in our favour. He began well. Constantinople was not there in the beginning and was out the back and Warning rolled forward. We knew with the weight he would give a good kick with the weight he was carrying.”

Where to: “I was just speaking to Dave and he said the Flemington Cup (2800m July 16), so this was a nice lead into this. He can have a nice breather from now and until them. Hopefully he can go into that race in as good as form as he was today.”

Winning Jockey: Jame Kah

First impression of the win.: “Very nice. I say it time and time again, I love riding Ciaron’s stayers, especially at Flemington. It’s such a big open track. He gets them so fit and my job was pretty easy in the end.”

Following Warning: “It seemed a beautiful tempo and he needs a genuine tempo to relax. Down the back Warning stepped off (the fence) for a few strides and we got a nice bit of cover into that headwind and on the turn when I pulled him out he was strong to the line.”
