On the win: “Probably one-two (horses off the fence), where the track got rolled, seems to be the best part and she (Kah) was onto that. She had a plan, I wasn’t going to change her plan, I’ll leave that to her, and she rode her terrific.
“I thought they were doing a little bit of work early but when that other horse got to her you could see her really fight and find the line good.”
On the sales pitch after the horse came over from New Zealand: “A couple of months ago I said, ‘buy a winner at the May Carnival’.
On the winner: “She’s very untapped and very raw so she’s got a lot of upside. She’s improved a lot since she came over, manners and things like that, so if she stays like we don’t know (how good she can be) but it’s a good feeling.
On winning at the Carnival: “for local trainers here at Warrnambool, any winner for the carnival is just massive so this is a great thrill.”
Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah
On the horse and the win: “She’s got a lot of talent this horse. Johnny Allen told me he got to the front a bit soon of her and she waited (last start), so to try and get a bit of cover but I did the complete opposite!
“I had no cover. From that gate we were going to get stuck wide so I had to push forward. She’s done it at both ends and full credit to the horse, she was tough enough.”
On how she handled the wet track: “I wouldn’t worry with her, she’s a big girl and she got through it really well.”
