At the turn: “I honestly didn’t think I was going to get that close to Lachie (King), I thought Patches (Moloney) and I would be getting close to him but I didn’t think we’d be getting past him and then the closer I got I thought ‘I reckon I’ll pick up Lachie but I don’t know if I’ll get past Patches’ but he picked them both up, he’s just such a tough little horse.”

Strong late: “I think it’s just taken him a couple of runs to come to hand actually and I think sometimes it just takes him a little bit, because he’s had issues, to get his confidence and think I can run through the line so just a little bit of confidence for him.”

Upside: “I’m very happy to see him run out a strong 2000m as well. He’s won very well fresh over 1400m and now he’s stepped out to 2000m and won at a strong 2000m as well so I think he might even be able to get a bit further now.”
