On the improvement from last start in the Eclipse: “I always thought that unless he won the Eclipse  - he was a little bit disappointing I thought the other day actually, he wasn’t at his best I don’t think but he came through the run extremely well and showed ne no signs at all why he shouldn’t back up and he’s a four-year-old stallion and never left an oat , strong and tough - that was a tough race that and he really toughed it out well.

Future plans: “We’ll just see, I’ll have a talk to Mark (Jacobsen, owner) and see what he thinks. We go to the Palace Hotel and have a beer a couple of times a week , right all the problems of the world, and we’ll make a decision then as to what we do with Flash, whether we go on with him or not.

On winning on Pakenham Cup day: “It’s definitely a day we all look forward to , it’s our hometown Cup, even though I feel like a bit of an imposter at the moment but it’s just great to get onto a good, big track and on top of the ground.

Winning Jockey: Matt Cartwright

On stepping back in class: “I think the back-up suited him and up to 2000 metres he travelled lovely for me then quickened up well. He hit the front a long way out but credit to John, a great training performance to get this horse back into form, he was quite disappointing at Caulfield and had most of us scratching our heads. He backed up good and he’s back into winning form

The keys to riding Flash Feeling: “He can be quirky, he can get a little bit keen at times but he travelled lovely for me today- I just had to bite the bullet and just wait , I had to pop out and cruise into it without getting to the top of him.
