“It was nice to see him get out on terms and James managed to get him in a lovely position just giving him a quiet time through the mid stages and ensuring that he was able to wind up and do his best work late.

“He was obviously entered on the weekend to race as well and just due to the wet tracks we came here today and Melbourne has given us a beautiful day and we can see how effective he is on these sort of tracks so we were quite confident.”

Temperament though still a colt: “He’s lovely. He’s an absolute gentleman. I think if he wasn’t ‘they’ would have been gone by now but he’s shown us enough to keep him a colt and his manners are lovely and in tact and he’s great to deal with.

“If it continues that way then we’ll keep him.”

“I’m sure we’ll see with a little but of confidence back in him then he can go on his winning ways, and if we can pick the right race and snag a Group 1 or a nice stakes race then I’m sure that’ll be targeted in the future.”

Winning Jockey: James McDonald

“He’s a nice horse and he executed beautifully today. He was really strong last furlong and the furlong-and-a-half.

“He’s been building towards that. Firmer ground has helped. Onwards and upwards.

“He’s definitely very progressive and with a bit of confidence on the board I’m sure he’ll shoot through his grades. The majority of him is owned in Perth so we might see him in some big races over there.
