Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace (rep by Jack Turnbull)
“The connections gave us plenty of time to build him into this campaign and he can go all the way into the autumn now - he doesn’t need another break.
“He’s a very exciting horse and Dave and Ciaron had a very good opinion of him.
Pleased to see the rain: “Most certainly. He’s versatile animal. He’s trialed up on the poly at Ballarat and he’s got a wonderful action but he also excels in soft ground.
“When the rain came today, especially over seven (furlongs), that shorter trip. We thought it would play into his hands.”
On Nugget: “He’s a product of Fingal and the beach. He rotates through Cranbourne as well. He gave a good sight and will be improved for the run.
“He just needs to be kept interested where he is and he ran well.”
Winning Jockey: John Allen
“He’s unbeaten bar that run in the Adelaide Derby.
“He always does enough in his work and kind of pulls up when he hits the front so we can never get a true sense of where he’s going but there’s certainly a big engine there.
“Once he got out he sprinted good and put what looked like a good field away pretty easy.
“We were boxing him in behind them and always traveling well. I was following Blake Shinn (Munhamek) who was traveling well and just had to stay on his back”
“Then he got a run and a run presented on his outside. This horse is very dynamic when you get out. He sprinted quick and won with ease there.
“He’s a horse we have time for. He was only beaten in the South Australian Derby at the end of his prep last year. He has a big future.”
