Winning Trainer: Jerome Hunter

Nice horse and nice win: “He’s stepped up a bit today to Saturday city class. With the sting out, he loves it wet.”

Expectation: “If you look at all his wins he’s got a powerful finish on him. I just knew he was above average when we ran him at Moe. It’s just fantastic. We’ll see how long this rainband continues over the next month or so, but he’s had a massive campaign and I would like to be looking at bigger things in the autumn with him on wet tracks.”

Is he up to that: “He’s stepped up today and he’s done well, so we’ll see.”

Constitution wise handling stable life: “He’s not the easiest horse race day. We have the pony take him around the barriers and everything. He knows how to win.”

Barb Raider came through the stable. Is he the next one to step up: “With a break, give him a spell, I think he could come back a better horse to what he’s doing now. Whatever he’s doing now, I’m sure there’s more improvement in the horse.”

Winning Jockey: Daniel Stackhouse

Three wins from four rides on him: “He showed a lot early on. He got himself out of awkward situations when I rode him at Moe a few times, but he’s always shown nice ability and stepping up to the mile and he handled the heavy conditions well.”

Follow Unanimous: “I was happy to follow him as I thought he was the one to beat. He grabbed the bridle down the side and wanted to get going. He’s still learning, he’s got a few quirks. He’s got a mind of his own at times, but Jerome has done a fantastic job with him.”

Busy week with winners in two countries: “It was quite good to go to New Zealand and ride a few winners over Cup week. It was good to see family and friends back home and be back in New Zealand.”
