Visually quite incredible: “It was, but he was slow away and obviously you are watching your own horse, but you could see at the 600 (metres) he was coming up underneath Daniel and even though he was a fair way off them he was looking like he was going to let down.”
Given up hope: “Initially, but on a wet track it was slowing up the wheels of the ones up front. In last trial last Monday he got back in the trial and hit the line good. At the 300 (metres), I thought he was going to really charge late.”
$370,000 yearling purchase, had he shown something.: “Not wow, but very professional. He had three jump-outs and had been straight forward. He’s done it good and we’ll certainly pack our bags and get up there (Gold Coast), but there is those big flash Sydney colts. We won’t get ahead of ourselves but we’ve got a runner in the race now.”
Another run of go to Gold Coast fresh: “He’ll definitely have one run, maybe two. He’s a big gross colt. Obviously now he’s in the race with the prize money that takes the pressure off. He can have a little let-up now, may be get down to the water walker, but he’s got to have go around right-handed.
Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor
Not looking good after 50m: “He was slow out but that was due to his perfect behaviour really. He stood there best in the barriers. I wasn’t in a rush to drive this horse made because I know how much ability he has, and that’s good ability. I believe he’s got the ability to buck the trend of this race being an ordinary form race. Going forward he can train on at three and he’s got a great brain and a great attitude.”
Get to stick with him to a $2million race in January: “That would be nice. I’ve had a lot of success in these colours and hopefully it continues on.”
Conditions: “The track is fine. It’s quite uncomfortable conditions, but nothing wrong with the track.”
