“We were pretty disappointed in the result after the last run. He could have easily won that had a bit more luck gone his way.
“At about the 600 (metre mark) I thought it wasn’t going to go my way again.
“Kerrin, he’s a superstar jockey and when he decided to get going he took it to his advantage and the horse is was extremely strong.
‘Looping around’ the field is a good move here: “This horse is a good ground horse. He needs firm ground and that’s what we’ve got tonight.
“It’s great for Seymour Bloodstock and the rest of the owners and it is great to get a winner on Manikato night.”
<Expected this horse to be their best chance of the night>
Where to now: “Not sure but we’ve put a nom in for Perth and the Railway. He’s just a tough old gelding that loves his training.”
On another runner Silent Sovereign: “We’ll head to the Matriarch with her and then the Ballarat Cup.”
Winning Jockey: Kerrin McEvoy
“It is about time the old uncle and the cousin gave me a winner. It has been a little while.
“It is great to team up with them tonight at the start of a big weekend.
“He put in a good showing, that horse.
Can’t remember the last winner for Tony McEvoy: “I can’t. I’ll have to give him a dig in the ribs when I walk past.”
“That was good. He jumped out on terms and it looked a race where they were pushing for a spot and getting back.
“I was mindful at Moonee Valley, and early in the carnival, it can sometimes be hard to run on but we just got him out and he was fit and well and got him mobile down the side and he did the rest.”
Perth may be next: “Ok, well that could be a good option. I don’t know the horse but his record reads good on top of the ground - it suits. He skipped over that and was enjoying it every step of the way.
“Could be a good chance to pick up some dollars over there.”
