Winning Trainer: Archie Alexander

“Very good and as we all know this race is so important. It’s not just a race at Geelong on a Wednesday, it is a qualifier for a (Cup Week) final.

“The main owner Lyndon Galvin is a good friend and loves a plan and he sat down and went through a plan on how we’d get here.

“We gave the horse a bit of a freshen up and he arrived here in good form.

“Full credit to everyone at home. He’s presented in good order, a good peach of a ride and was too good.”

Improvement to come: “I think so. He looks good but was just a touch off in his coat. He’s come here off a break with one run under the belt. Should be fitter and tighter and ready to go with a big one.”

Winning Jockey: Declan Bates

“Super win. Full credit to Archie who had him absolutely spot on today. They put him to the sword at the top of of the straight and he was really strong to the line.

“I’m not sure what happened to Declan Bates but thoughts are with him and I was lucky to get the ride.

“His form is effective over longer distances. He had fresh legs and traveled well. I was mindful that he had that stamina and I used that to my advantage.”
