“Really, really good. He was up in class today so we were a bit unsure how he’d measure up but he was too good.
“It helped being on a heavy track today.
“Last week the stable flooded and it was about two or three feet under so a shout out to Peter Donnelly who let us put our horses at his place down the road so we were able to keep them in work.
“It’s been a tough week so it is good to get a winner after having to clean up after the floods.”
Before the floods came: “We had a bit of notice but when it hit the horses were in the stables knee-deep in water. It just came in too quick and we had 200 horses on the farm.
“Dad’s home today because of the breeding and that was the priority with the foals and getting them out.
“It was a stressful time to get them out of three feet of water but a credit to all our horses, they stayed strong and calm and they knew they were getting rescued eventually.”
Winning Jockey: Madison Lloyd
“It’s really good to be back aboard Russell’s horses and supporting him again.
“I really can’t thank him enough for putting me back aboard this bloke. I rode him the day I broke my leg - he was one of my first rides.
“I said to him that he goes good on heavy tracks and I was really happy with how he trialled.”
In the run with the favourite looming: “I just kept riding him out because he’ll keep running. It is either his way or the highway because comes out of the gates and you’ve just got to sit there on him.
“You’ve just got to make sure he jumps and he does the rest himself.
Is she back in the swing of things since her return to the saddle: “Yes, absolutely. I can’t thank everyone who has supported me enough. It’s been great.”
