Winning Trainer: Peter Moody (assistant trainer Katherine Coleman interviewed)
On the horse: “He’s a horse that’s come to us with great form in New Zealand. He’s been very well educated over there and we’re lucky enough to take the reins now.
“He’s trialled up very well, his work at home has been fantastic so it’s lovely to see him come here and give that performance today, but I’d say we expected that of it.
On his spring goal: “He’ll head towards the Toorak Handicap now so we’ll just pick our path on how we get there.”
Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah
On the horse: “I just love getting on these Moody runners. They’re so well-presented, mannered and he was just a push-button ride then. He’s got the temperament and attitude and you don’t really know what’s underneath until you push the button on this horse. He gave me a nice enough feel, but once I pushed the button, he just extended away and had plenty left under the tank.”
On today’s run and his ideal distance: “He didn’t have a lot of early speed, even though there was a lot of early pressure in the race I was happy to be where I was but further wouldn’t bother this horse at all.”
