On the mare and the preparation: “It was a well-deserved win, she didn’ get much luck last start but she’s racing consistently well.

“It was a nice ride from James, as we get used to seeing, and that was a big help as well.

“She showed us ability as a three-year-old, but we’re just taking our time now that she’s turned four. It’s been a good confidence-building exercise, this preparation.”

On Nature Strip: “He’s well, he’s just over there at Flemington at our stable just smoking the pipe getting ready for Saturday.

“It was obviously a little deflating to get beaten it the Everest, no disrespect to the winner Giga Kick, he was very good, and we’ve got to try and turn the tables.

“It’s a good field. It’s great to see some good horses backing up and coming back to Melbourne. It really will be a great race.”

Winning Jockey: James McDonald

On the battle with runner-up Climbing Star: “It’s a good, tough filly that (Climbing Star) and it took a good horse to get past her, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing.

“She was good enough to do the rest late, but I wouldn’t want it over again.”

On the winer’s form: “She’s flying at the moment. She’s in career-best form and I’m sure this is her time of year, the spring time.

“She looks fantastic and I think she’ll only get better but a mile is probably as far as she wants.”
