“It was solid being first-up. He lumped a bit of weight today but he broke well and as he does he rolled to the front and where we thought he might have knocked up he found again when the mare came up on his inside.
“He’s in for a fantastic prep. There is a race for him on Ballarat Cup Day, a BM78 Mile which we’ll head to. Just thrilled for the ownership, Bluebloods.
“His trackwork has been good. He’s a big lad, he’s an old gelding now and naturally racing brings them up. We don’t usually have them screwed down first-up but maybe in the ground he’s excelled.
“He’s run a peak PB for s first-up performance, we’ll have to look at the ratings, but both horses (Secret Glamour) ran well but the mare had to duck and weave.”
Winning Jockey: Celine Gaudray
Horse was one of the first off the bit: “I couldn’t believe his position but he never really traveled for me but he just kept finding more and more every time I asked.
“He’ll be better over further but it was a tough performance from this horse today.”
