“He’s a horse that’s been always been out to gallop and shown us a lot at home. We’re probably a little surprised that he’s been able to go out and do that today.

“It is pleasing and he’s gained a bit of confidence with the change of scenery. He’s spent a lot of his life at Ballarat and (now) he’s been at Cranbourne for a month so that has switched him on.”

Heavy track: “That is probably the one thing we thought he’d handle - the ground. His form at home was good on it and he’d done an awful lot of work on it and got through it well.”

Was it a surprise: “I suppose just an old grey on a wet track but certainly bowled through the ground.

“He’s shown a bit early when he came over first but I was a little disappointed first-up but through a wet track he really poured through it.”

Back into it after a break: “I’ve had a quiet spell since I’ve been back but hopefully getting back into the swing of things now and it’s good to get a winner on a day like today.”
