Has he exceeded expectations: “He certainly did. Four weeks between runs, he had a dynamic scope and I’ve trying to find out why he’s been making a noise in his throat so I did say to Damian just to let him flow (and) don’t be gagging him up.

“It was good that Zahra (Custodian) and Melham (Shalaman) sat off today but you still have to be good enough and he was good enough and we’ll just keep him to 1200 metres.

The race suited for his style: “We didn’t have much say in it. That’s just the way he races.”

Could the breathing hinder his potential: “Not over the 1200 metres and not if it just holds as is. At the moment we’re in a good place.”

Winning Jockey: Damian Lane

“Lovely horse. As usual, well educated and well prepared out of the Price and Kent Jnr yard.

“He was able to show good speed early and I used that to my advantage.

“They give you confidence to go out there and ride how you want to and we planned to ride him that way. They’re fit and well prepared and can afford to do a bit of work at both ends and you know they’ll be strong late.”

Did he notice anything with horse’s breathing after scoping: “No, I didn’t. And I didn’t last start so obviously whatever it is he doesn’t make it completely obvious but while he’s racing well hopefully can keep doing so.”

On the track: “It felt a bit soft underfoot than what it is rated with that shower a couple of hours ago.”

<Track downgraded from Soft 5 to Soft 6 after Race 1>
