On the win: “My daughter will be very happy, he’s her favourite and she’s at a friend’s house shouting at the tv He looked like he was a little bit under the pump into the corner and then he straightened up and gave a really good showing late.”

On the horse: “He’s a cheap $40,000 purchase from the ready-to-run and he hasn’t really done anything wrong, but back on a good track and obviously Mickey Dee is in such great form.  ”

On the Saturday meeting & a $175,000 race: “The prize money is extremely elusive , you’ll find some of these horses might go on to an Adelaide Derby or a Brisbane Derby and when it’s on your back door steep you’ve got to be in it to win it. I’ve got a few owners here who are pretty excited.”

Winning Jockey: Michael Dee

On the race: “It unfolded beautifully, we jumped ok and ended up outside the stablemate in the lead.  Going fairly slowly throughout. The stablemate quickened and we got left a bit flat footed but round the bend I always felt I had plenty more to give and found top gear when we straightened and he was strong to the line”
