“She’s a nice mare. Well bred and she had to do it the tough way there but she was too strong.

“I was thinking it was going to be difficult but he (Melham) didn’t panic, got in a nice rhythm and on straightening it looked like she was going to tough it out and be good.”

“She’s building a good record now. A little bit of a hot mare but a good record, good galloping action and didn’t have much joy there on top of the speed. She found a good rhythm and let down nicely.

“She lost her competitors shortly after straightening and got a bit lost but it adds more merit to her win.

“She traveled up after we straightened like she was going to win and when she got to the front and floated a bit I could sense the horse coming up on the outside of her and she dug deep to win but if she’d had something to run along (with her) she would have been more effective.”
