Zabeel becomes the first stallion since his father Sir Tristram to be voted into the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame.
By the time of his retirement, aged 27, Zabeel had not only matched his famous father but, in some respects, outshone him. He boasts four New Zealand championships and two Australian; 15 Dewar Awards (Australian and New Zealand earnings combined); 43 Group One winners (two behind his dad) and 148 stakeswinners, surpassing Sir Tristram's 130.
Zabeel's last commercial crop of yearlings has only just gone under the hammer at Karaka and there are still achievements to be added to this Hall of Famer's list of credentials.
