Interpretation right to go in Cup

Interpretation has been given the all-clear to start in the Melbourne Cup.

Having been under a Melbourne Cup cloud because of a change in his gait, Interpretation has been given the all-clear to start following a second veterinary inspection.

Interpretation underwent a physical veterinary inspection on Thursday and was not passed as suitable to start in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on Tuesday, but after trackwork on Friday and another inspection on Friday afternoon, has been given the all-clear.

Racing Victoria stewards said Interpretation would wear Equicast on his left fore foot.

Geelong Cup winner Onesmoothoperator will undergo another inspection on Saturday after being re-shod, having suffered a cut to the heel bulb of his right hind foot.

Interstate inspections were performed on Athabascan, The Map, Trust In You and Waltham who were all deemed suitable to start.

Physical inspections were undertaken on the horses based at the Werribee International Horse Centre – Absurde, Kinesiology, Sea King, Vauban and Warp Speed – who were all passed fit to start, while the veterinary team travelled to Mount Macedon to inspect Knight's Choice and Mission Of Love

The Sheila Laxon and John Symons-trained Mission Of Love was deemed unsuitable to run in the Cup and has been withdrawn, which sees Saint George now move into the field of 24.

The final Cup field with barriers will be announced on Saturday evening, with all Melbourne Cup final acceptors to undergo a second physical examination on Monday.
