After taking out the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay at Deauville in France, Marmelo is now equal favourite with Cross Counter for the 2019 Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 5.

The Hughie Morrison-trained entire was second in the Prix Kergorlay 12 months ago before finishing second to Cross Counter in last year's Melbourne Cup as a $12 chance at TAB.

Marmelo was one of many gallopers rated a $26 chance at TAB to win the $8 million Melbourne Cup.

One punter was happy with Marmelo's performance, placing $1000 each-way at $26/$7.25 immediately after the Prix Kergorlay.
