The countdown has begun for the highlight of South Africa's Champions Season, the R3 million, Grade 1 Vodacom Durban July to be run over 2200m at Greyville, Durban, on July 7th.

The R1 million, Grade 1, Cape Guineas(1600m) is normally the testing ground of the best of the three-year-old crop in any given year.

The action on Sunday is at Kenilworth in Cape Town where the running of the Grade 2 Selangor Cup over 1600m takes place.

Last season's top two-year-old Delago Deluxe, third on his reappearance in the Cape Classic, will turn out again for the Betting World Merchants at Kenilworth on Sunday.

Depardieu, who has failed to inspire since turning three, finally displayed his two-year-old brilliance by winning the Grade 3 Cape Classic at Kenilworth on Saturday.
